The Matter of Creating E-Books

Image
Have been checking out the creation of E-books to produce an E-book. Have used the following software (so far): LibreWrite, Quarkxpress and Kindle Create. All operate the same way. Basically you drop your novel into a page then use Header 1 to create chapter or short story headings for a TOC (yeah, I wondered about that for a while - Table of Contents).  Libre was easy, on the export to E-pub you could add a cover of your book which would then appear as athumbnail on your chosen e-reader.  Quark was more creative, in fact so creative I realised for a basic e-pub like a novel it probably wasn't my choice; but what I liked about it was the creation of page sizes etc.  Kindle Create (the Amazon software) as you would expect does what it says on the tin, but a little frustrating at times. Haven't found a way to attach a front cover when exporting to epub. Used a workaround and put the pic within the document on the first page. Guess this must come later when you are ready...
